Airport Lounges - Gatwick

 As readers’ thoughts turn to summer holidays we look at one solution to hassle-free departures - the airport lounge. At ‘vacation’ airport Gatwick, the lounge experience is attainable without breaking the bank. Chris Page (23 Jun’14)

 

No.1 Lounges

Where?

 At Gatwick North and South Terminals. At LGW North the lounge is located after security on the ground floor of the departure lounge towards gates 101 - 113. At LGW South No.1 Lounge can be found after security, on the mezzanine level of the South Terminal.

Concept

Billed as the first ‘super-lounge’ the North lounge opened in 2011 and offers 10,000 sq ft space. A range of stylish lounge areas offer prime runway views and entertainment, including a cinema. Time-pressed travellers will value the complimentary security fast-track access that comes with No.1 Gatwick lounge access.

 Facilities

 No.1 Gatwick also features a Travel Spa with treatments from skincare specialist Dermalogica and Aromatherapy Associates. They include massage, facials, nails and waxing. The spa is open daily from8am – 6.30pm and you can book online. Showers are complimentary for lounge users and spa prices start from £10. 

 A fully tended bar is available as is a bistro-style menu and complimentary WiFi. Games, TV, newspapers and magazines are provided, and staff will assist with printing and faxing documents on request. Complimentary  a la carte meals are available  in the recently refurbished North super-lounge along with drinks (excluding champagne and cocktails).

A family room keeps children entertained.

Access

Access is by payment: Entry costs £25.00 per adult*, £15 per child (aged 2 - 11) and infants go free, when booked online in advance.

The lounge is open daily from 4am to 10pm.

Guests are entitled to a three-hour stay in the lounges with an option to purchase additional time.

Serving all flights departing from the South Terminal, No.1 Gatwick is the UK’s only winner of the Priority Pass Lounge of the Year Awards 2010 & 2011, as voted for by frequent flyers. Its VIP Departure service is designed offers assistance is designed to whisk passengers through the airport quickly and efficiently. Porters assist with luggage and you get your own travel concierge on hand to fast-track you through check-in, security and immigration.

 Servisair Aspire Lounge

Where?

At the North Terminal or the Lingfield Lounge in South Terminal.

Concept

To allow all passengers paid access, irrespective of the airline or class of travel. The new lounge concept was unveiled in 2012 at LGW North and offers 4,811 sq ft of space for 130 passengers.  

Facilities

Complimentary hot food such as handmade bacon sandwiches , freshly baked Danish pastries and croissants or fresh soup are available along with a comprehensive range of snacks and treats available throughout the day.

The Aspire lounge offers a wide range of complimentary premium brand wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, available throughout the day. An extra charge is made for champagne, phones and fax.

Quiet zone is located away from the main lounge area and offers equipment charging facilities and free WiFi is available.

 

Access

Prices start from £18.99 for adults (age 12+) and £14.99 for children.

British Airways


Naturally, the airlines offer their own lounges and premium class passengers travelling with British Airways (international flights only) and Emirates also have dedicated lounges in the departure area.

British Airways travellers who are Silver or Gold card holders can access the LGW Terraces Lounge when along with passengers travelling in Business. BA offers a wide spectrum of global lounges which includes the First Class Lounge.
