Albert and Michel Roux to boost Epsom Downs hospitality

Michelin starred chefs, Albert Roux and Michel Roux Jr are to spearhead a new hospitality offering at Epsom Downs Racecourse. The announcement of the partnership comes ahead of the Investec Derby Festival in June. Chris Page (9 Apr’14)

Chez Roux on the Prince’s Lawn will be a bistro-inspired offer involving an exclusive menu incorporating a series of signature dishes. Guests can dine among one of the most sought-after views over the Investec Derby Festival. The restaurant will be available for lunch during the two-day event on 6-7 June.

Dishes on the bespoke menu include English asparagus salad with a hen egg, feta cheese, aubergine caviar and truffle dressing to start. Followed by an l’assiette du boucher - a roast fillet of beef with mash potato and onion gravy, or lamb chop with ratatouille.

 The new Chez Roux on the Prince’s Lawn hospitality packages follows the chefs’ contract extension with Jockey Club Racecourses which originated with their Fairlawne fine-dining experience at The Cheltenham Festival.

“We are delighted to be involved with the Investec Derby as it is a major part of the British social calendar, said Albert Roux. “I feel immensely proud to be showcasing our bespoke menus at this prestigious event.”

Rupert Trevelyan, regional director of London Racecourses, added: “We are very excited to be working alongside two outstanding Michelin starred chefs, to provide an additional dimension to the creative thinking behind the Investec Derby menu development."

Epsom Downs Racecourse is part of The Jockey Club, which has been at the heart of British racing for more than 260 years. The Investec Derby Festival attracts more than 125,000 people during the two-day festival and prices for Chez Roux on the Prince’s Lawn start at £549 (+ VAT) per person.
