NetJets in Foster care

As the 62nd Cannes Film Festival takes off this week so do the aircraft which will disgorge innumerable celebs, producers and party organisers at Nice Airport and the private jet stronghold of Cannes-Mandelieu Airport. Behind the scenes at the 02 World arena nervous anticipation gave way to systemic efficiency as the formidable MTV EMA machinery moved into show launch mode with Green Day’s insistence that the capacity audience should "get off your fuckin’ ass." Red Carpet obliged, dividing our time between the show, backstage and artists.

Red carpet on MTVs red carpet

The MTV Europe Music Awards were broadcast live from Berlin's 02 World arena last Thursday on bonfire night. Red Carpet flew to the host city to review the event which was hosted, once again, by Katy Perry.

The dominant EMA theme was the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and U2's surprise performance with rapper Jay-Z at the Brandenburg Gate. Oh - and David Hasselhoff's sequinned jacket.
  
Naturally, events like this are about the music and the performers.

Day of reckoning

 

The pulling power of international bands needs venues -and facilities- to match their prestige. Last night, Birmingham's LG Arena did just that as American rockers Green Day took to the stage having delivered 30,000 fans to two sold out shows at the venue, breaking attendance records at the brand new LG Arena within days of its opening. Sat Bal experienced the LG's hospitality offering with sumptuous dining at its Sanctum restaurant before watching Green Day in action from the venue's new premium Showdeck.(29 Oct' 09)

Madonna takes Cardiff
