Red Carpet's British Festival preview 2013

Even where there’s muck, there’s luxury - at least on Red Carpet’s trawl of summer music festivals. So drink up the decadence and glamp it up this summer with some choices from Abigail Parkin (13 May’13)

Winterwell - Aynho, Oxfordshire  8th June, 1pm – 4am

This quaint and quirky festival has gone all Great Gatsby on us this year. It’s goodbye to the fields and hello to the roaring 20s at  Aynhoe Park’s grand 17th century country house. Winterwell promises to take you on an adventure back to a time of prohibition, decadence, eccentricity and debauchery.

The ‘Biggest Little Festival’  famed for its themes brings us a dress code of ‘flappers’, mobsters and jazz stars this year. Bag one of the twelve opulent bedroom suites at Aynhoe Park and enjoy the luxury of a butler catering for your whims from the moment you arrive.

Who’s on?

Rabbit foot spasm band, The boom brothers, Lou Young, Count sizzle, DJ Count skylarkin, plus more.

Glastonbury - Worthy Farm, Pilton    26th-30th June 2013

Red Carpet will be at Glastonbury this summer following the festival’s year off. It’s sold-out and promises to be a show worth the wait.

Taking the energy out of camping at the off-site camping field, Worthy View, peg up a tent, tipi or yurt for you before your arrival. The place to be however is the legendary stone circle, its tipis have become a part of the landscape at Glastonbury and offer magnificent views across the whole site. The tipi site has communal fires for that real camping experience, and tipi campers also get the luxury of solar powered showers and access to a log-fired yurt sauna.

Who’s on?

Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Dizzee Rascal, Primal Scream, plus more.

Latitude - Henham Park, Sothwold  18th-21st July 2013

The festival that claims to be more than just a music festival; Latitude has teamed up with M&S for a scenic cycle ride to the event to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Glide by pleasant scenery on the ‘Tour de Latitude’ when cyclists can indulge in food and drinks courtesy of M&S. With hot showers upon arrival plus access to a guest campsite Latitude’s attitude is clear: on your bike!

Non-cyclists can check out Yurtel a brand new luxury camping experience with an exclusive field just for Yurtel campers. The restaurant offers breakfasts, snacks and dinners and the bar offers Bloody Marys with the morning papers.

Who’s on?

Bloc Party, Maccabees, Jessie Ware, Hot Chip, plus more.

Secret Garden Party - Huntingdon, Cambridgshire  25-28th July 2013

This year the Secret Garden Party theme is ‘superstitious’ so Gardeners should think spiritual.

Secret Garden Party know how to treat the glamper. All boutique campers get their own path to the Garden. SGP’s barrow boys and trolley dollies will assist with luggage and exclusive toilet and shower facilities will keep you daisy-fresh throughout your Garden stay.

For more VIP treatment head to The Sanctuary spa where treatments include facials, manicures and pedicures.

Accommodation includes traditional tipis, Beryl (a 3 bedroom luxury cottage on wheels!), Bell tents, Yurts, Squrts, a gypsy wagon and lotus tents.

Returning for its fifth year The Soul Fire restaurant takes care of dining whether it’s indulgent dishes for brunch or more formal three-course meals as the night wears on.

Who’s on?

Bastille, Django Django, Goldie, Regina Spektor, plus more

V Festival - Hylands Park & Weston Park, 17th- 18th August 2013

V Festival glamping gives you a dedicated parking area, a private walkway to the main arena and access to an exclusive hospitality area when you get there. After a hot shower, spruce up in the complimentary beauty room filled with mirrors, hairdryers and other useful post-shower accessories.

Camping alternatives include a pop-up hotel room, a yurt, or a gypsy caravan! The camping area also boasts a lounge cafe, bar and a festival recovery spa.

Pop-up hotel rooms will make festival vagaries feel a million miles away with facilities including a double bed, an en-suite wet room with power shower, flush toilet and bespoke toiletries. Add to this a fully air-conditioned heating system and all the essentials for your morning cuppa.
