Tall Storeys at Vogue Festival

Vogue Festival 2016 Paul Smith assocs

The exacting standards of Vogue magazine saw Neptunus structures supply the temporary venue that housed the recent Vogue Festival 2016 fashion event. Abigail Parkin  (31 May ’16)

Themed around the magazine’s centenary anniversary, the event was staged in partnership with Harrods at ‘Vogue World’ on East Albert Lawn in Kensington Gardens and at The Royal Geographic Society.

Visitors flocked to the venue for two days of all-things-fashion induced by a speaker panel of style luminaries which included Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana, Christopher Kane and Kim Kardashian West.

Events agency Timebased Events was enlisted to deliver the Vogue Festival brief. The agency has a rich provenance in creating demanding events for glamorous names such as GQ and the (imminent) Glamour Women of the Year awards.

Richard Dodgson, Timebased’s creative director, said: “Neptunus supplied us with an excellent selection of equipment for this event that was all delivered on time and within the budget. We were particularly pleased with the brand new roofs which ensured the event structure looked suitably premium.”

This included a series of temporary structures covering over 1,800 square metres which formed a fashion show catwalk, talk space area, a Green Room, main entrance, production offices and a kitchen. A team of 10 Neptunus’ technicians took just three days to construct the venue.

GIG Wins Event Caterer Award

Global infusion Group

As Red Carpet prepares to head to Milan for the MTV music awards we hear that Global Infusion Group has picked up an ‘Event Caterer of the Year’ award. It’s a salutary reminder of the importance of the catering operation to high-end global events.  Sat Bal (21 Oct’15)

Global Infusion Group (GIG) scooped the award at the Foodservice Cateys 2015 where judges praised the company’s “amazing ability to cater at events that are both challenging and diverse in nature.”

These events include Reading and Glastonbury festivals, the latter which GIG has provided artist and crew catering to for 17 years. Sporting events include the London 2012 Olympic Games and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The award category was sponsored by Electrolux Professional.

Tony Laurenson, founder and CEO of Chesham-based GIG said: “It’s a fantastic tribute to the entire GIG team. This award recognises our sterling efforts over many years to provide outstanding service and great food to all of our customers which has made such a significant contribution to the growth and global expansion of our business.”

Originally launched by Tony Laurenson as Eat to the Beat from his parents’ garage in 1984, the operation  has grown into a global brand with bases around the world employing around 170 staff and providing work for 3,000 contractors.

Through its Eat to the Beat division, GIG supplies services to international film and television companies and caters many of the world’s leading bands and top entertainment stars.

New Miami Studio for Viacom

MTV Viacom Miami Studio

Viacom Inc’s global entertainment brands (Nickelodeon, MTV et al) are to gain a class leading production hub with the opening of a two-stage, 88,000 square foot production facility in Miami, Florida. Sat Bal (6 Oct’15)

The new studio is public-private partnership between its builder the Miami Omni Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and EUE/Screen Gems Studios.

“We are creating more content than ever before across all of our brands at Viacom,” said Robert Bakish, president and CEO of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). “The Viacom International Studio in Miami will offer a turnkey facility where we can create even more original, high quality content to meet the increasing demand for long-and-short-form content on all of our global platforms.”

“We have had terrific success with the recent live action productions we have coming from Miami, and we are very excited to be committed to doing more,” said Cyma Zarghami, president, Viacom Kids and Family Group. “We are constantly looking for new creative ideas and content formats that allow us to tell stories in a completely different way, and this facility will certainly forward that effort.”

From central Miami, the studio location benefits from the area’s highly skilled, multilingual talent, enabling global productions in multiple languages.  The studio’s two sound stages are able to create a variety of content simultaneously, from daily scripted series, music specials and game shows to short form content for mobile, digital and on-air.

“Viacom has demonstrated again and again that hits come from all over the world,” said Pierluigi Gazzolo, president, VIMN Americas and Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon International.  “With an established track record of multi-lingual hits including Every Witch Way and Talia in the Kitchen being produced in Miami for multiple audiences simultaneously, in global collaboration with the US and local Latin American teams, we’re excited to have the opportunity to further expand our production capabilities in the market.”

“We welcome Viacom as a long-term partner at our new Miami studios," said Chris Cooney, COO, EUE/Screen Gems Studios. “Our company has worked closely with Viacom to develop a facility worthy of a dynamic content producer. Today, we celebrate our relationship with Viacom, and we applaud our partners at the Omni CRA, whose vision and efforts have made this building possible.”

VIMN Americas’ Miami HQ drives Viacom’s businesses across Latin America and Canada and the company reports that VIMN Americas has increased its production output in Miami three-fold within the past five years.
