Summer hospitality success at Lord’s Cricket Ground

Lord’s Cricket Ground has reported a 61% increase in the sales of its summer packages following enhancements to its 2013 hospitality offering. Abigail Parkin (23 Aug’13)

The total number of packages sold for 2012 was cited as 5,424 rising to 8,742 this summer. One of the season’s biggest successes was the bespoke Ashes Club premium package, launched exclusively for the second Investec Ashes Test Match between England and Australia. For the duration of the England v Australia Test, 6,377 packages were booked by corporate and private guests. Over 10,000 people enjoyed hospitality throughout the match with 4,506 visitors hosted in boxes. Guests took in unrivalled views of the famous “hallowed turf” and sampled bespoke menu packages.

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) – owners of the spiritual ”Home of Cricket” – reviewed the structure of its hospitality services and completed refurbishments to the Tavern Stand Boxes and Marylebone Suite at the start of 2013.

Nick Kenton, head of sales for Meetings & Events and Hospitality at Lord’s, said: “The reception to the hospitality restructure at Lord’s this summer has been extremely positive. The move has allowed us to provide a bespoke service to all of our clients, which alongside the refurbishment of the Tavern Stand Boxes and Marylebone Suite, ensures that Lord’s continues to offer a truly unique hospitality experience.”

Alison Greagsby, marketing director at 505 Games, hosted guests at the second Investec Ashes Test Match at Lord’s: “Our guests all agreed that the Ashes Club was the best hospitality day that they have ever experienced. The venue itself was very relaxed with a great atmosphere and much needed air conditioning, the food was outstanding, the service was second to none and the fact that so many of the ex-players stayed around and gave us so much of their time made it an unforgettable day.”

In 2014 Lord’s Cricket Ground will host an England v. Sri Lanka Test Match and One Day International, and an England v. India Test Match.  A range of Major Match day hospitality packages, including the Nursery Pavilion, Captains’ Lounge and the Marylebone Suite, will be available to book.
