2012 MTV EMA in Frankfurt & ‘Titanic Sounds’ in Belfast

MTV has announced today that its global music awards show will be held in Frankfurt this November. The “2012 MTV EMA” will broadcast live from Frankfurt’s Festhalle on 11 November following last year’s record-breaking show in Belfast. MTV also returns to Belfast next month for ‘MTV Presents Titanic Sounds’ its live music event. Chris Page (12 March 12)

MTV has confirmed Replay and Renaissance Hotels as sponsors for the 2012 EMA. Replay will be an official pan-European sponsor to be featured on all promotional activities in the build up to the awards show, including on-air billboards, all marketing and press materials, presence on the dedicated MTV EMA microsite, as well as on-the-ground consumer promotional activities in Frankfurt.

Renaissance Hotels will be a digital sponsor for the UK, Germany and France, with on-the-ground activations in selected hotels. Additional sponsorships and partnerships will be announced in the coming weeks.

Titanic Sounds from Belfast…


Revisiting its success at the recent EMA in Belfast MTV heads back to stage ‘MTV Presents Titanic Sounds’ – a live music event, staged in collaboration with Belfast City Council and Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB). 

Olly Murs, Sean Paul and Rizzle Kicks  have been confirmed to perform at the event on the night of 13 April. One further performer will be announced in the coming weeks.

Following a sell-out date at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena Olly Murs is expected to treat the crowd to tracks from his double-platinum, self-titled debut album alongside hits including Dance with Me Tonight.’

I can’t wait to perform at MTV Presents Titanic Sounds this April,” he said. “ I will be bringing my 9-piece band and hope to put on a great live show!  I always love coming to Belfast and it will be a great way to commemorate 100 years since the Titanic was built there!”

Jamaican star Sean Paul breaks from his world tour to hit Belfast with new tracks from his recently released and highly acclaimed fourth album, Tomahawk Technique.’

“We are about to bring some incredible energy to Belfast,” he announced. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the celebration and can promise that the entire crowd will be on their feet from start to finish. I can’t wait to share some of my new music with the fans!”

 New kids on the bill are UK hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks. Their debut album Stereo Typical’ an  indie,  hip-hop mix has become a top 5 album. The duo’s performance in Belfast will also be a debut.  “We are thrilled to be coming back to Belfast with MTV,” said Rizzle Kicks. “We were over last year for the EMA's - which was awesome. We can't wait to get on stage and perform this time!”

MTV Presents Titanic Sounds’ will be filmed and broadcast across 63 channel and 152 territories around the world as part of the network’s World Stage franchise.  The event will also be broadcast on MTV UK on 5 May.

The event is free but a £5 admin charge is being applied to all tickets, which will be released today from Ticketmaster (maximum 4 tickets per person.
