British Festivals preview 2012

Summer festivals need not be an endurance test of mud and unspeakable loo experiences. The social science of ‘glamping’ has brought increasing luxury to the festival field; hot showers, gourmet dining with real cutlery, comfy beds and  somewhere a girl can plug in her GHDs. Abigail Parkin tracks the luxury options that allow you to slum it in style this summer. (6 June ‘12).

Summer Sounds 13 – 14 July

Warwick Castle, Warwick

A venerable historic venue and the expertise of two leading industry names, Rouge Events & Merlin Entertainments Group, brings a novel weekend of music to leafy Warwickshire this summer.

Okay, it’s not as ‘festival’ as the others on this page but we liked the diversity of pop and classical on offer - and the location. Jessie J  takes top billing on Friday 13 July at the Ultimate Summer Party and the following day a ‘Best of British’ music night takes place. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will then perform classical pieces.

Warwick Castle is part of the Merlin Entertainments Group and Rouge will jointly publicise  the event via Rouge Live. "Live music and entertainment have always been a major part of Rouge’s events and more frequently we’ve been creating successful experiences for family audiences, said Rouge co-founder Nathan Homan. “The chance to partner with one of the world’s leading family entertainment brands is definitely a great opportunity to strategically extend Rouge’s live portfolio and establish Warwick Castle as an amazing concert destination."
