Daphne’s Summer Relaunch

Daphne’s discerning diners have been fêted for 50 busy years and now the Chelsea restaurant is relaunching with a summer refresh. Abigail Parkin (22 Apr’14)

Designer Martin Brudnizki has been enlisted to change the face of Daphne’s while retaining the spirit of warmth and familiarity that have seen the venue adopted by Chelsea’s residents and beyond. Celebrity patrons of Daphne’s are also involved in the relaunch - in a behind-the-scenes sort of way.

The 50 years of business is to be marked by 50 celebrities, in creative fashion: each name has been asked to honour Daphne’s Italian heritage by designing a bespoke Venetian mask.

The Caprice Holdings’ restaurant plans to open this June when all the masks will be displayed for one month and then sold to diners. In a generous touch all sale proceeds will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity Funds to contribute to the hospital’s redevelopment programme.

Elsewhere, Caprice Holdings is to cheer in the FIFA World Cup from 12 June to 13 July. The newly unveiled Daphne’s will be a part of this as will Caprice venues of all shapes and sizes. Mayfair (Scott’s and 34’s Emin Room), the West End (Bam-Bou, Balthazar and The Ivy) and Shoreditch (Rivington Grill) will play host to the football fun with upgraded systems and screens.
