The Great Scot Awards 2012

Tuesday 27th sees the return of The Great Scot Awards which celebrates the best in Scottish creativity, media and sport. The fundraiser will also auction seven lots including unseen work by renowned artist Jack Vettriano. Abigail Parkin (21 Nov  ’12).

Event sponsor  Aberdeen Asset Management and founder Boisdale take The Great Scot Awards into its fourth year with ‘day-one’ supporter Johnnie Walker Blue Label continuing its sponsorship for the fourth year. Past winners include Annie Lennox, Sir Jackie Stewart and Sir Tom Hunter.  This year’s annual dinner takes place at Boisdale of Canary Wharf Restaurant next Tuesday combining talent, achievement  and glamour with a menu and wines to match.

Art collectors will, no doubt,be drawn to the auction of seven lots including an exclusive new painting from the iconic artist Jack Vettriano : Night-time Rituals II (pictured). The noble aim is to raise well over £100,000 on the night for Scottish charities nominated by the winners of the Great Scot Awards on the night. Comic Hardeep Singh Kohli  will entertain the crowd with co-host and Great Scot Awards committee member Andrew Neil.

The committee also comprises : Martin Gilbert - chief executive of Aberdeen Asset Management; Ranald Macdonald founder of Boisdale; Bill Martin - songwriter and music publisher; Paul Walsh - chief executive of Diageo plc; Lawson Muncaster - managing director of City A.M; Sir Jackie Stewart - inaugural winner and Sam Torrance OBE - golfer and sports commentator.

Naturally, the dress code is ‘Tartan or Smart’…
