The Oscars, Winners & Red Carpet

The 86th Academy Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, LA last night memorably backed new talent. Queen of the night was Lupita Nyong’o who won the Supporting Actress award for ‘12 Years a Slave’. And above is the A-list group ‘selfie’ that was retweeted over two million times by the end of the 2014 Oscars. Sat Bal & Abbie Parkin (3 Mar’14)

The Oscars was hosted (and the tweeting organised) by Ellen DeGeneres and 12 Years a Slave was the star of the show winning the Oscar for Best Picture, Nyong'o's win for Supporting Actress and John Ridley's plaudit for Adapted Screenplay. Lupita  Nyong'o’s win sent the entire VIP section into unbridled cheer and acceptance of a new star in its midst.

Gravity went stellar with seven awards: visual effects, sound mixing, sound editing, cinematography, film editing, original score and Alfonso Cuarón won best director.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Angelina Jolie, Lupita Nyong'o, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Steve McQueen and Brad Pitt
