Previously hidden photographs chronicling the sixties creative scene are to be aired in an exhibition this week. ‘The Stones and their Scene’ opens at Proud Chelsea gallery and features the work of Eric Swayne whose imagery documents icons such as Catherine Deneuve, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and their creative contemporaries. The Stones and their Scene brings us the artists, musicians and models as the 60s was about to launch this creative coterie to fame. Eric Swayne's friendship with his subjects is obvious in what is a unique and intimate record of the time.

Proud Galleries has been given exclusive access to Swayne’s recently discovered archive, discovered posthumously by Swayne’s son Tom. The exhibition will unveil several never-before-seen photographs of Stones Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts; David Bailey; and sixties beauties Anita Pallenburg, Chrissie Shrimpton, Pattie Boyd and Jane Birkin.

Swayne’s son Tom says of discovering his father’s collection; “I discovered a beautiful trove of unseen images: Mick shot informally in Dad’s studio, just test shots for a friend, and Keith and Charlie too – a whole series of them fooling around in Dad’s flat with Chrissie Shrimpton.”

Despite no formal training and an entry into photography aged 29 Swayne went on to shoot for Vanity Fair, Queen and Italian Vogue.

Proud Chelsea runs the exhibition 13th June – 28th July and the Proud brand continues to expand with three galleries, a live music venue and a Cabaret club. It has hosted shows by everyone from Terry O’Neill to Jerry Schatzberg, opened with celebrity-guested launch parties.
