UK creatives head for Hollywood

As the Brits, Baftas and London Fashion Week loom a consortium of  leaders from the UK creative sector is in Los Angeles for the first ever LA Innovation Forum. Backed  by the government the Innovation Forum brings together big names in the film, entertainment and music industries with the aim of encouraging closer working. Chris Page (5 Feb ’13)

The two-day summit which started on Monday sees Lucian Grainge CBE, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, Ari Emanuel, co-CEO of William Morris Endeavor and artist and producer will.i.am  partner with the Founder’s Forum and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

Founders Forum is a global community for entrepreneurs and business leaders in media and technology, designed to create, encourage and support entrepreneurial growth and job creation from and within the UK. It was co-founded by Brent Hoberman (lastminute.com and UKTI Business Ambassador ) Jonathan Goodwin (LongAcre, The Wireless Group). The Forum currently hosts events in Brazil, India, the USA and UK. 

Trade envoy chairman Lord Marland led the delegation of UK creative businesses from the UK. and other names included  Joanna Shields, UKTI Business Ambassador , Maker Studios, Songkick, Bebo, Wikipedia, PlayMob; Soundcloud; Moshi Monsters and the Arts Council England. The UK has one of the world’s largest and most successful creative industries reputedly worth over £36 billion a year and generating around £70,000 every minute for the UK economy while creative industry exports account for 10.6% of all UK exports.
